Punyah Yoga is a registered yoga school from the Yoga
Alliance to help students deepen their knowledge of yoga
practice and learn how to teach the art. Thus, we offer an
experience that can be likened to a yoga ashram.
Absolutely! We welcome the opportunity to have you stay at
the Punyah Residency and continue to practice with us. Of
course, this does depend on room and class availability.
We would like you to join our course for a minimum of one
week to get the full experience and understanding of yoga.
We conduct teachers training courses every month throughout
the year. However, we highly recommend that you apply for a
course 2 months in advance.
You are allowed to transfer from one course to another
depending on the space and availability for that particular
month. Once the training program has commenced, it is not
possible to switch dates or defer it unless extenuating
circumstances arise.
For in-person Yoga Teacher Trainings, your fee includes: a
single room/twin sharing accommodation at The Punyah
Residency, Three meals per day, one snack per day with chai,
coconuts and few excursions. No food is provided on rest
days, though we welcome you to dine at the Punyah Cafe. Your
tuition fee does not include other expenses such as eating
out, transportation, flight tickets, etc.
The Yoga Alliance Certification, while based in the USA, is
recognized internationally all across the globe. Please note
that though your certificate is Yoga Alliance recognized,
you must register with the Yoga Alliance separately.
Registering as a member with Yoga Alliance USA does not
register you as a member of Yoga Alliance UK/AU.
We proudly offer high-speed WiFi throughout the yoga shala,
cafe, and all rooms at the Punyah Residency. We also have a
generator to ensure that there is still power during
outages.
If you have special dietary requirements, please let us know
in advance, and we will be happy to arrange suitable options
for you. We have happily accommodated lots of students in
the past with allergies or dietary restrictions. We do this
joyously and with ease! We are happy to keep your body
happy!

appreciate your interest and will update the availability of
scholarships if we offer them in the future.
We strongly recommend that pregnant women consider taking
our courses at a different time instead. Our yoga teacher
training courses are not a suitable prenatal yoga practice
unless you are a very experienced and seasoned practitioner.
Please note: traditionally in Ashtanga yoga, women are not
meant to practice during pregnancy and the first three
months after giving birth. If you already have a
well-established daily yoga practice, you can come take the
course and modify accordingly. Please contact us before
booking and we will discuss this together.
Yes, a tourist visa is all you need. E-visas are easily
acquired online. This is done through the government of
India website and we do not recommend going through third
parties to obtain visas.
If you wish to arrive a few nights early, you must let us
know about your arrival in advance. You will be charged on a
per day basis. This will not be included in the Yoga Teacher
Training Course fee. Most of our students do arrive a day or
two in advance, and we are happy to greet you early at the
Punyah Residency.
We advise students to fly from New Delhi (DEL) to Dehradun
(DED) airport. Rishikesh is just 20 kilometers away from
Dehradun airport, which takes about 45 minutes and costs Rs
1200 approximately (Depends on urgency or season) by taxi.
If you would like to book a taxi, either from the New Delhi
Airport or from the Dehradun Airport, we can organize this
for you for an additional fee. Please keep in mind that a
taxi trip from New Delhi to Rishikesh can take anywhere from
5-10hrs dependent on traffic.
We advise that you bring your own mat for personal hygiene
and cleanliness. That being said, we know that traveling
with a yoga mat can be bulky! We do sell yoga mats at our
boutique and we do have mats available to use in our shala.
If you are taking a course along with your partner or friend
and wish to stay together, please let us know in advance. We
will do our best to accommodate you.

January is definitely the coldest. When it comes to
clothing, think layers, socks and sweaters! The sky is
partially cloudy and mornings can be very foggy.
It gets pleasant in February and a lot of blue
skies dominate, but days can still be a bit chilly.
Sightseeing and adventurous activities like trekking can be
enjoyed during this month. Long sleeves, trousers, and
warmer clothes for nighttimes are highly recommended.
Moderately hot during day and nights with a
slightly cool breeze, March in Rishikesh is the best time to
enjoy rafting and other outdoor adventure pursuits. This is
especially a good month for yogis as the international yoga
festival takes place at this time. One can pack lighter
clothing items during this time.
It’s getting hotter in April. Outdoor activities
can be still enjoyed as the heat is still within most
people’s comfort zone. Short sleeves and skirts can be used,
but please remember to keep your shoulders and knees
covered. Take a dip in the Ganga: the clear skies and plenty
of sunshine make it ideal!
It gets a bit hot in May and is often considered
to be the hottest month of the year. Maybe not the best time
to visit, but we think that Rishikesh is always worth a
visit throughout the year.
The hot weather during June in Rishikesh melts
the ice in the northern region, feeding the streams of
Rishikesh and raising the water levels.
Monsoon season starts in July where it gets
cooler. There will be cloudy skies most days and increasing
humidity, but still manageable. It’s the perfect month for
nature enthusiasts, but do not forget to bring your rain
gear.
The wettest month, August is fantastic for
people who like rain. Stunning shades of green for our rain
lovers during this season. The days are warm and the
evenings are pleasant. Bring your rain gear!
September is a moderate month. The month is
ideal for outdoor travels and enjoyed by most tourists
because of clear skies and plenty of sunshine. Days can be
hot, so bring your light clothing items.
Humid and cool, October is one of the best
months to visit Rishikesh. You will love doing yoga during
this time. Warm during the day and evenings begin to get
cooler.
November is perfect for enjoying indoor and
outdoor activities. Winter starts at the end of the month
but there will still be plenty of sunshine. Plan to layer up
clothing, especially in the mornings and evenings.
Nights are getting cool in December and winter
is coming to town. But still, days are pretty comfortable.
Again, think layers and keep yourself warm. Mornings and
evenings can get cold!

This is a good question! Of course you want to know if you
will be in a small group or in a group of 100 people! Each
month, the amount of people attending our yoga courses vary.
As COVID19 has changed our courses drastically, we are
unsure how to best answer this question at this time. We
will say that generally, prior to COVID, anywhere from 8-20
people have attended our courses during any given month.
The style of yoga we teach at Punyah Yoga is Ashtanga,
Hatha, and Vinyasa that allows our students to embark upon
an insightful journey within while being rooted in the most
ancient and authentic teachings of yoga. Our yoga classes
are deeply intentional as we honor yogic philosophy,
traditions, and methods. With a deeper awareness and
understanding of the body, one can come into alignment with
mind, body, spirit and one's life purpose.
Yes, we typically have 1 day off a week during the 100hr and
200hr yoga teacher training programs. This differs for our
online courses.
There are no requirements to join a yoga teacher training
course, so long as you have an interest in yoga and
meditation. We have welcomed students who are just getting
started on the path, as well as long-time practitioners. All
are welcome! If you wish to take yoga classes with us prior
to joining our TTC, we offer online videos on YouTube where
you can practice along with us to prepare for your yoga
teacher training.
Yes, we are able to set up custom and long term payment
plans upon request. Generally, we will split the payment in
two or into three installments if requested.
